Kyriba and the Association for Financial Professionals announce first-ever joint certificate on stablecoins in treasury

Kyriba and AFP partner together to address treasurers’ urgent knowledge gap

SAN DIEGO, April 28, 2026 – Kyriba, the global leader in liquidity performance, and the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) today announced a historic first: a jointly developed professional certificate designed to give corporate treasurers the confidence and practical frameworks they need to navigate the stablecoin landscape.

The AFP-Kyriba Stablecoins & On-Chain Liquidity in Treasury certificate program, announced at KyribaLive 2026, addresses a critical gap facing finance and treasury leaders today. While more than half of financial institutions expect to adopt stablecoins within 12 months—up from just 13% currently using them—most treasury teams find themselves caught between executive pressure to explore digital assets and the lack of credible, practical guidance on how to do so safely.

"Treasurers are increasingly being tasked with evaluating use cases of stablecoins," said Pat Culkin, President & CEO at AFP. "This certificate addresses the shift from theoretical to functional infrastructure by providing a methodical framework, rooted in real treasury practice, for navigating stablecoins. As a connection point for the profession, AFP brings together leading ideas and partners like Kyriba to help treasury teams advance with clarity and professional rigor."

AFP’s partnership with Kyriba reflects a shared focus on equipping treasury professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate emerging developments, combining Kyriba’s industry expertise with AFP’s commitment to education and community.

From awareness to readiness

Recent regulatory developments, including the 2025 GENIUS Act in the United States, have accelerated stablecoin adoption. But for treasury teams, the challenge extends beyond awareness to readiness, starting with questions such as: How do you custody digital assets? What controls are needed? How does this integrate with existing systems? What belongs in treasury policy?

The AFP-Kyriba Stablecoins & On-Chain Liquidity in Treasury certificate was built to answer these questions. Developed jointly by AFP and Kyriba, the program is AFP-recognized, CTP-credited; gaining the certificate could earn approximately 7.8 CTP credits. It is structured to move treasury professionals from confusion to competence across four comprehensive modules:

Module 1: Stablecoins in treasury — why this matters now
Introduces the topic from a treasury perspective and equips teams with the core concepts, terminology, and use cases needed for informed internal discussions.

Module 2: Instruments, risks, governance, policy & security
Examines how treasury teams hold, govern, and assess digital value instruments across design, custody, risk, controls, policy, and security.

Module 3: Treasury operations on new rails
Turns concepts into practical treasury workflows, focusing on payments, receivables, integration, reporting, reconciliation, and programmability.

Module 4: Suitability, readiness, pilots & next steps
Helps treasury teams move from understanding to action by providing a framework to assess stablecoin use cases, required capabilities, and a disciplined first phase.

Bob Stark, Global Head of Market Strategy at Kyriba, said: "Treasurers don't need more hype about digital assets. They need trusted education that respects the complexity of their role. We are deeply honored that AFP – the gold standard in treasury credentialing – chose Kyriba as its first corporate partner to develop this program. This is more than just technology adoption. It's about reducing anxiety, building competence, and ensuring treasurers can lead these conversations with confidence."

Available June 2026

The program launches in June 2026 with two access paths designed for maximum reach across the treasury profession.

Treasury professionals can request more information about the certificate through AFP here. Kyriba customers will access the same AFP-recognized certificate directly within Kyriba Elevate—the self-paced learning platform embedded in Kyriba's treasury management system—allowing them to build stablecoin expertise without leaving their workflow.

Kyriba will offer complimentary access to only 500 customers who enroll through Kyriba Elevate, reinforcing the company's commitment to arming treasury teams with the knowledge they need to lead confidently in this emerging space.

Announced today at KyribaLive 2026, the certificate represents a new model of collaboration between treasury’s leading credentialing body and the technology providers serving the profession – a partnership born from the recognition that technical innovation is most effective when paired with the education treasury teams need to thrive in this moment of transformation.
