Is Kyriba an ERP System?

Kyriba’s cloud treasury platform is a treasury management system (TMS) and it is not an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The purposes of the two systems are different.

As Oracle defines it, ERPs are used to manage day-to-day business activities such as accounting, procurement, project management, risk management and compliance, and supply chain operations. A complete ERP suite also includes enterprise performance management, software that helps plan, budget, predict, and report on an organization’s financial results.

Usually ERP systems are either installed on-premises or implemented in the cloud. ERP platforms act like an information center for a company, enabling end-to-end workflow management and data analytics, by tracking all aspects of production, logistics, and financials.

A Treasury Management System (TMS) is a more special-purpose software that focuses on the business needs and workflows for treasury, which is a function under the Office of the CFO. A treasury management software allows companies to process cash flow, manage banking relationships, and enhance the value of their cash flow. It can also help companies manage their assets, liabilities, and bank accounts through automation and integration with third-party applications.

With modern API connectivity, ERP systems can easily be connected to any cloud treasury platform to exchange data in real-time. Kyriba has launched API connectors to SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and other major ERP providers to provide instant data flows, including event-based notifications. Kyriba can also push instant updates, like changes in payment status, to your ERP.
